Mr. Antonio (Tony) John Santamaria [02/17/1942 - 02/19/2014]

Mr. Antonio (Tony) John SantamariaAntonio (Tony) John Santamaria, husband of Jacqueline H. Santamaria, was born in Guilford on February 17, 1942 to Dominick Santamaria and Rose Dipinto Santamaria. He attended Guilford Public Schools and graduated from Guilford High School in 1961. He assisted his Grandfather, Antonio Santamaria, at the family mom and pop store on Whitfield Street and later worked as a delivery man for The Economy Market. He was a long-time employee of Shore Line Times Newspapers, starting in maintenance, then the lino-type room and then as advertising salesman and advertising manager. He was employed there until his retirement. For 30 years he was a member of the Connecticut State Police Auxiliary Force and was a member of the Guilford Chamber of Commerce. He married his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Haynes, on March 22, 1961. Next month would have been their 53rd anniversary. Tony enjoyed carpentry and remodeling their home. If something needed to be fixed, he would do it. He also enjoyed family time especially with great grandson, Joshua Graham. The pair were inseparable. He is survived by sons, Mark Santamaria (Diane) of Alma, MI, John Santamaria (Sue) of Clinton, daughters Tanya Harris (Clark) of Virginia Beach, VA and Andrienne Santamaria of Westbrook. Also survived by grandchildren, Michelle Santamaria of Davie, FL, Christine Santamaria of Clinton, Justin Santamaria of Clinton, Christine Graham (Joshua) of Madison, Kyle Griesbach of Clinton, and Vincenzo of Madison, great grandson Joshua Graham, Jr. of Madison., siblings Maria Cullen (Larry) of Higganum, Larry Santamaria (Pauline) of Guilford, Jenny Morse (Bob) of Guilford, Michael Santamaria(Linda) of Clinton, Debbie Bennett of New Haven, Special sister-in-law Kathleen Braren of New Haven, other brother-in-laws and sisters-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a grandson, Jonathan Santamaria and two brothers, Dominic and John Santamaria and a sister, Patricia Santamaria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 24 at 11:30am. Burial will follow Mass in St. George Cemetery, Hubbard Rd, Guilford. Friends may call prior to Mass on Monday morning from 9:30 – 11am at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford.
