In Yale New Haven Hospital, Tuesday, September 24, 2013, Alva (Sue) Dykes Hawkins, 96, of 104 Saltonstall Pkwy, East Haven, CT. Born on Laurel St in East Haven, CT on February 3, 1917, daughter of the late Samuel and Evalina Fox Dykes. Loving mother of Kenneth Hawkins of East Haven, Richard Hawkins of Leecanto, FL and Alva Lamson of Newport, ME. Also survived by five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Predeceased by her daughter Ethel Hawkins, her sister Stella Haesche and brother Edward Dykes.
Sue was formerly of Guilford before moving to Westbrook in 1997.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 30 at 10 am at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford, CT 06437. Burial in Nut Plains Cemetery, Guilford. Friends may call Sunday, September 29 from 5 to 8pm at the Funeral Home. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Hawkins may be made to the Lions Club Sight Program, PO Box 212, Guilford, CT 06437.
