Francis Fran Barteau Peberdy Mayer passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Madison House, Madison, CT. Prior to her short stay at Madison House, she resided in Guilford, CT. She was born on October 12, 1918 in New York City, New York to the late John and Mary Barteau. Survived by two daughters; Martha Lombard of Guilford, CT and Judith Bartlett (Rev. Harvey) of Bradford, VT; a son; William Peberdy (Amy) of Cookeville, VT; one brother John Barteau of TX; a brother-in-law Art Turner of MA; seven grandchildren Anne and Ed Lombard, Sarah, Daniel, and Joshua Bartlett, and Drew and Ben Peberdy; four great-grandchildren Mary, Eddie, Victoria, and Hayden; and several nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed quilting, collecting Blue Willow dishes, and baking her famous molasses cookies. She was a member of the Christian Science Church in Guilford. She worked for many years at Southern New England Telephone Company and the Guilford Savings Bank. For many years, she enjoyed spending time at her Vermont vacation home.
She was predeceased in death by her siblings Martin Marty Barteau, Mary Mimi Turner, and Marjorie Midge Thomas; a son-in-law Edwin Ned Lombard; her first husband and father of her children Arthur Art Peberdy; and her second husband Wilbur Bill Mayer.
Graveside Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Alder Brook Cemetery, Guilford.
