In Guilford, Tuesday, July 9, 2013, Thomas Edward Scecina, 76, passed away suddenly. He was the devoted husband of Marguerite Hanrahan Scecina. They had just recently celebrated fifty years of marriage. Born on April 19, 1937 in Yonkers, NY, son of the late Thomas and Mary Scecina. Loving father of Mark Scecina of New Haven, Thomas (Lisa) Scecina of Wallingford and Taryn Scecina of Branford. Beloved grandfather of Benjamin and Noah Scecina-White and Kayleigh Scecina. Also survived by his sisters Maryann Talarczyk of North Haven and Diane Tanner of Bellingham, WA. Predeceased by his brother Donald Scecina.
Thomas was a greatly admired teacher for thirty five years in the Stratford School System and will be missed by his many students and colleagues. He was a generous, caring and thoughtful man with a playful style that warmed the hearts of all that knew him. His integrity, commitment and strength of character were evident in everything he did and are legacies that he has passed on to his children and grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday, July 12 from 5 to 8pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford Saturday, July 13 at 10am. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford. Contributions in Thomas memory may be made to the St. George Church Building Fund, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford, CT 06437.
