Ivo DaCorte, 89, of Guilford, formerly of North Branford, died peacefully surrounded by his adoring family on July 3, 2013. He was born February 6, 1924 in Keystone, West Virginia, the son of Angelo and Josephine Marchietto DaCorte.
Ivo lived for 10 years of his childhood in his beloved Auronzo, Italy before returning to the U.S at the age of 16. He proudly served in the United States Army with service at Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe during World War II and was the recipient of several medals. After returning from the war, he settled in New Haven where he met and married his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Pedroni DaCorte, who predeceased him in 2007.
Ivo was a co-owner for many years of Lattanzi Tile & Marble Co., and as a tile setter has left behind many marks of his craft throughout the State of Connecticut.
Ivo is survived by his loving children, Paul DaCorte and wife Vera of Guilford, Carla vanDijk and her husband Gerbrand of Madison, Gloria Amatrudo and her husband Mark of North Branford, and Andrew DaCorte and his wife Andrea of East Haven. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Colleen Wilson, Sara McNulty, Joseph and Thomas Amatrudo, Andrew DaCorte, Jr. and his wife, Laura, Ryan DaCorte, and Kevin, Kathleen and Brian DaCorte.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford, where he was a communicant, Monday, July 8, 2013 at 10:00 am. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Rt. 1, Branford. Friends may call Sunday, July 7th from 6 8 pm at The Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the St. George Food Pantry, 33 Whitfield Street, Guilford, CT 06437.
