On Thursday, June 20, 2013, Donald A. Johnson, 81, of 39 North Madison Rd, Guilford, CT. Husband of the late Miriam Magee Johnson. Donald was born in Branford on Mar. 17, 1932, son of the late John Sr and Emma Rockstroh Johnson. Beloved father of Pamela Matocha and her husband Joseph of Meriden, Elizabeth Kirschbaum and her husband Mark of Bethany and Nancy Johnson of Guilford. Grandfather of Steven and Mathew Kirschbaum. Also survived by his sisters Doris Medlyn of Branford, Leatrice Turbert of FL and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by six brothers Herbert, Kenneth, Eric, Carl, Jay Johnson and a sister, Hilda Lowry.
Mr. Johnson served his country in the US Army, stationed in Korea. He lived most of his life in Guilford. Donald was a longtime member of the VFW Edward Norton Post #7666, Guilford and member and past president of the Lions Club of Guilford. He was proprietor of Dons Saw Sharpening Service and Small Engine Repair and he also enjoyed woodworking
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 24 at 10am in the First Congregational Church, 122 Broad St, Guilford. Burial with military honors will follow the services in Alder Brook Cemetery, Boston St, Guilford. Friends may call Sunday, June 23 from 4 to 7pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford.
