On Friday, June 27, 2014, Wesley L. Gesner, 84, of Westbrook formerly a longtime resident of Madison passed away. Beloved husband of Kathleen Child Gesner. Born on July 19, 1929 in North Madison, CT, son of the late Lewis Grant and Edna Wicks Gesner. Loving father of Charles and Patricia Gesner, Edwin Gesner, both of CT, Pamela Primavera and her husband John of NC and Sharon McLean of AZ. Also survived by two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Predeceased by four brothers, Howard, Lewis Jr, Duane, & Clinton and a sister, Viola.
Mr. Gesner served his country in the US Navy as a Radar operator aboard the USS Kimberly during the Korean War. He is graduate of Hand High School, Madison, Boardman Trade School and Auburn Polytechnic Institute, Auburn AL with a degree in Architectural Design. He worked as a master carpenter, Housewright for H.R. Broom. Wesley was a member of the First Congregational Church of Madison and more currently a member of the First Congregational Church of Westbrook. He loved photography and gardening. He gave programs that covered gardening and African safaris and also held open garden events at his home during the months of April and May for over 25 years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 2 at 7 pm in the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Friends may call prior to the service on Wednesday evening from 4 7pm at the Guilford Funeral Home. Burial will take place privately in Cypress Cemetery, Westbrook.
