![Mr. Andrew J. Fiorentino]()
Andrew J. Fiorentino passed away suddenly Monday, March 17, 2014, at St. Raphaels Hospital. He was born in New Haven, June 30, 1941, the eldest son of the late Andrew and Helen Fitzmartin Fiorentino. A graduate of Notre Dame High School, Andy attended both Colby College and SCSU and upon matriculating pursued his passion for teaching children with special needs. A tremendously able and multi-talented individual, he devoted his energies to support his growing family by owning and operating East Shore Auto Parts. Whether serving in the US Army between 1962-1965 before getting married in 1966, becoming a paralegal and financial advisor after children were supported through college, or keeping himself active as a security guard at Yale Art Gallery until recently, Andy was a man for all seasons who always tried to keep himself sharp and engaged.
Andy is survived by his loving family, Andrew J. (Pamela), Michael C. (Gina), Elizabeth Griswold (Peter) and Matthew J. Fiorentino. He will be missed by his five grandchildren, Nicholas, Brandon, and Mikaela Fiorentino and Maewyn and Kellan Griswold; former wife and friend, Margaret H. Fiorentino; brother Richard (Kathy) Fiorentino, and his uncle Raymond Fitzmartin (Barbara) of New Jersey, and his many close friends and relatives.
The Comet (his football moniker at Notre Dame) was always adventurous, generous, kind, upbeat, and was steadfastly loyal to his lifelong friends. His greatest interests included family, golfing, rock and roll, reading, and the NY Jets. Extremely friendly, he was interested in people and had the empathetic ability to converse with anyone--- he always rooted for the underdog.
