On Monday, November 18, 2013 in Connecticut Hospice, Branford, Francis W. Sweigart, Sr. of Cedar Grove, Little Falls, Toms River, NJ and Guilford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Frank was the loving husband of the late Muriel B. Sweigart. He was born March 14, 1922 in Orange, NJ, son of the late William and Margaret (Mulraney) Sweigart. Beloved father of Margaret Kozub and her husband John, Jr. of Guilford, Roberta Price of Fredericksburg, VA, Deborah Bates of Baltimore, MD and Francis W. Sweigart, Jr. and his wife Jacquelyn of Caldwell, NJ. Grandfather of John Kozub, III, Amy Steffanides and her husband Todd, Rosemary Sweigart and Brendan Sweigart. Also survived by three great grandchildren, Caden Kozub, Avery and Jack Steffanides, who were the light of his life in his later years. Mr. Sweigart served in the 482nd Bomb Group, Eight Air Force of the Army Air Corp in Europe during World War II. Frank was a retired chief of the Little Falls Fire Company #3 and a member of the VFW Post 7506. He began working in the United States Post Office in Cedar Grove, NJ in 1949, appointed Post Master in 1973 and retired in 1981. He lived at the Gables in Guilford for over 10 years.
Cemetery Chapel services and Military Honors will be held on Friday, November 22 at 11 am in Laurel Grove Cemetery, 295 Totowa Rd, Totowa, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd, Branford, CT 06405.
