Elizabeth Japp Fox, 85, wife of the late Florian A. Fox, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Beth Moffat and her husband David of Guilford, Marjorie Shampain and her husband Robert of Wethersfield; her cherished grandsons, John Moffat of Guilford, Kevin Moffat of Gales Ferry and Joshua Shampain of Wethersfield. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. John Japp and his wife Norma of Carlisle, MA and sister-in-law, Lucile Riviere of Tampa, FL; along with many nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Everett and Harriet Japp of Bridgeport, CT. Elizabeth was predeceased by a sister Marjorie DuBois and her husband, Arthur J. DuBois. Elizabeth was born in Stratford, CT on Dec. 5, 1927 and was a lifelong resident of Connecticut. She was a dedicated member of the First Congregational Church of Guilford; a member of the Leetes Island Garden Club, serving as president for several years; volunteered at the Hole in the Wall ABC; and a member of the Madison Winter Club. In her earlier years she was very active in the Guilford Keeping Society, the Guilford Lioness Club and the Dorothy Whitfield Society.
Memorial services will be held in the First Congregational Church, 100 Broad St, Guilford on Thursday, November 21 at 11am. Burial will take place privately. Memorial contributions may be made to Goodwill Hinckley Boys and Girls Club, PO Box 159, Hinckley, ME 04944; Faulkners Light Brigade, PO Box 444, Guilford, CT 06437 or First Congregational Church of Guilford, 122 Broad St, Guilford, CT 06437.
