She was born February 7, 1941 to Francis and Florence Post in New Haven. She graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1959. Kathryn and her late husband David D. Potter moved to Guilford where they lovingly raised three children. Debora Potter of Groton, Tracy Potter Cook (Nigel) of Daytona Beach and Steven Potter of Guilford. While there, and after her retirement, she was a proud and prominent member of Local 34 & 35 and YURAP, playing a pivotal role in negotiating and ratifying some of the most important contracts for the unions’ employees and retirees. She took up Tai Chi in her mid 50’s and became very adept, eventually teaching the seniors at the Guilford Community Center until a year ago. She enjoyed traveling including a trip to China and a memorable trip to Italy with her daughter Tracy. She was an avid, lifelong reader, still able to recite poems and passages she learned in her schooling. Kathryn will be greatly missed by all who knew her. “The sage breathe through the heels.” The family would like to thank the staff at both Smilow Cancer Hospital in Guilford and the MICU at YNHH for their care and compassion.
