Mr. Tad G. Kumatz Thursday, June 6, 2013, Tad G. Kumatz of Stony Creek, Branford passed away peacefully. Tad was born in Tokyo, Japan on March 31, 1929. Father of David Kumatz and his wife Kathy Crisp of Brentwood, Tennessee. Also survived by two grandsons, Daniel and Adam Kumatz, and a niece, Reiko Ray, of Tiburon, California. Tad did his undergraduate studies at Friends University, Wichita, KS, where he was also a member of the baseball team. He received his Masters Degree in library science from Syracuse University.. Tad retired as a Professor Emeritus from Pratt Institute in New York City, where he served as the Director of the Pratt Institute Library . During his career he also served as a member of the New York Public Library Board of Trustees. After retirement, he moved permanently to his second home in Stony Creek, Branford . A lifelong NY Mets fan, Mr Kumatz faithfully supported the Mets through many lean years, delighting in the world championships of 1969, and 1986. During his retirement he was an avid reader and enjoyed many trips to Nashville to visit his grandsons. Graveside Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Stony Creek Cemetery, Branford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Kumatz’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
