Whitney Julius Thompson Jr, the son of Whitney Julius Thompson and Mildred Elizabeth Norton, died peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2014. Whit was born on December 7, 1929 at 120 Water St, Guilford. He graduated from Guilford High School in 1949, and entered the military in 1951, serving four years with the US Navy during the Korean conflict. He was a former member of the Guilford VFW Post 7666, Guilford Sideliners, and a member of Guilford Volunteer Fire Dept; F.C. Spencer Hook And Ladder Company #3. Whit owned and operated the Guilford / Madison Gas Company and the Village Pub for many years.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Jean Tomlinson and Catherine Bennett, and a brother, Duane Thompson. He is survived by his sister, Doreen Capezzone and his brother, Donald Thompson, in addition to several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Whit had just become a great great uncle on his 85th birthday when Olivia Jane Thompson was born.
Services and Burial will be held privately. No calling hours will be held.
