James H. Gaffney (Jim) passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014 with his loving wife of 38 years by his side. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia A. Gaffney of Guilford, Jim was born July 7, 1923 in New Haven, son of the late Charles and Evelyn Erwin Gaffney. Father of Gary Gaffney and Jeff Gaffney and his wife Marcia of CA, Donna Coleman and her husband Kip of NJ, step-daughter Laura Peterson and her husband Eric, their children Cole and Hannah all of Portland, CT, step-daughter Debra Landry of CO, a sister Barbara also of CA and several nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by a son Steven Gaffney and a sister Caroline Lake.
Jim served his country for three years as a medic in the Army Air Force. He was owner of Gaffney of Guilford and worked as a plumbing and heating contractor for over forty years along the Shoreline area. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and watching the Yankees. Jim loved to cook for his family and enjoyed throwing parties on New Years Day, St. Patrick's Day and holding his annual July Lobster Bake.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in ST. GEORGE CHURCH, 33 WHITFIELD ST, GUILFORD on SATURDAY, MARCH 8 at 11am, with Military Honors to follow Mass. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Charlies Closet, 310 State St, Suite 200, Guilford, CT 06437.
