Eleanor Clinchy Reinhardsen, 91, wife of the late Daniel Reinhardsen Jr., passed away on Wednesday, September 18 at the Apple Rehab Center in Old Saybrook, CT. She was born in Denver, CO, on February 19, 1922, the daughter of the late Everett and Winifred Mead Cinchy. She was the loving mother of Katharine Bishop of Westbrook, CT, David Reinhardsen of Nyack, NY, and Steven Reinhardsen of Guilford, CT. Dan and Eleanor were also the caring guardians of the late Gaylord Albie Albertson. Eleanor also had six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Eleanor graduated from George School, Newtown, PA and attended Guilford College, Greensboro, NC. The Reinhardsens resided in Guilford for many years where Dan served as First Selectman for 2 terms. Eleanor and Dan were among the founding members of SARAH, Inc., a local organization dedicated to the care of people with special needs.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in the Fairmont Presbyterian Cemetery, Califon, NJ. Contributions in memory of Eleanor Reinhardsen may be made to the SARAH Foundation, 246 Goose Lane Ste #104, Guilford CT, 06437.
